The Darkslayer reviews Avatar

Avatar Movie

I took a break from reality today and checked out Avatar.  It was almost three full hours and I survived.  I know people think this is the most spectacular movie ever but let me assure you that it isn't.  It is really good and very entertaining, but I was just not blown away.  Of course, I am not a mere mortal either so I have different expectation in the entertainment realm.  Let me put it to you this way, the 3-D makes a wonderful picture, but you don't need to watch this movie in 3-D to enjoy it.  You can wait for the Blu Ray and you won't miss anything.  Beowulf by comparison was great because it did what you expected a 3-d movie to do. Stuff got all crazy and popped out at you. Most of these 3-D movies are billed that way just to get people back in the seats, but in most cases wait to see in in your seat at home.  I liked the movie and I thought there were some creative concepts in it and incredible scenes, but in the end this movie is not anything that is going to change the industry.  Spend three hours doing anything else, it's still football season you know!
